40% Chance of a white Christmas

Snow Forecast Issued: 2008-09-21 12:30:00
Next Forecast: 2008-09-28 12:30:00

Synopsis
Using long range outlook data, early indications now seem to suggest that Christmas day itself could be quite wet and cool. Rain looks likely to push up from the southwest, affecting some regions during the day. However, there is a chance of some snow over the mountains, most likely Snowdonia, the Pennines, the Highlands and the Cairngorms. Elsewhere snow is not expected at this stage.
Temperatures on Christmas day are forecast to be slightly cooler than last week's forecast, generally ranging between 4C and 6C across the country. High in the mountains temperatures are expected to be closer to freezing, particularly in the Highlands and Cairngorms.
In general, a cool and wet Christmas day is expected with snow confined to the tops of the mountains.
