Synopsis
LOW pressure continues to dominate the UK's weather, with an Arctic blast affecting most of Scotland. During Friday well scattered showers are likely to affect northern and central Scotland, falling as sleet or snow above 600 metres but even hail is possible at lower levels. Whilst most showers will affect the Cairngorms & Highlands, a few wintry showers are possible over the Southern Uplands, more especially during the morning. It will feel very cold, with a significant windchill effect, especially in heavy showers. Accumulations seem quite limited and mainly localised as the ground is still fairly warm. With strong winds, conditions in the mountains could become hazardous so extra caution is strongly advised. Overnight the snow level is expected to rise as mider air moves in from the west, bringing showery rain to the Highlands, perhaps with wet sleet on the mountain tops.
