Synopsis
During the late afternoon and evening, an occluded front is expected to push into Wales. This will fall as rain around the coasts but inland a period of moderate, perhaps heavy, snow is expected to fall particularly around Powys, with a temporary covering of 3-7cm possible, making driving potentially dangerous for a while. This is then expected to push into much of the West Midlands region, particularly west of a line from Coventry to Southampton, and as it moves into the cold air, some sleet and possibly snow is possible for a short time, giving further accumulations, especially across the hills, but not exclusively. Temperatures close to freezing will enhance the snow risk with dewpoints very low. Eventually the snow will turn back to rain later tonight, as it moves southwards, but for a time the snow could make conditions tricky on the roads. Some sleet or snow is possible over the moors in South West England too, although here accumulations will only be on the peaks.
