Synopsis
A very complex situation takes place during the Early Hours of Sunday for many, with an series of weather fronts moving southeast across the whole of the country, giving a few hours of precipitation for most. The problem arises when the front meets the very cold air over Central and Eastern parts of the UK. As it hits the cold air the front edge is likely to turn to Snow for about an hour or two in many places before it turns back to rain. Some places particularly around the Wash, over the Mountains and in parts of Norfolk may see no rain at all with snow for the whole duration. Accumulations are likely for many for a while with perhaps several centimetres over the Mountains and around Linconshire and perhaps Norfolk. Elsehwere a few centimetres are possible for a while before being washed away by rain as milder air nudges in for a while. Another problem also occurs on Sunday Morning where as the precipitation falls onto very cold ground it is likely to cause alot of Ice and Black Ice making conditions on the roads where snow has fallen very hazardous. Please be very cautious of heading outside during the morning - slippery roads may increase the risk of accidents. Where snow accumulates in the east and doesn't wash away, temperatures locally will struggle. Elsewhere sunshine and blustery showers will take hold, wintry over the Scottish and Welsh mountains.
