Synopsis
Showers will continue throughout the night, especially across Northern England and later in the night a cluster of heavy showers, possibly with a rumble of thunder, will push into southwest England and run along southern counties of England during the morning. Elsewhere the showers are likely to be more scattered. During the day the showers in southern and eastern regions are likely to become widespread and heavy, with the potential for some thunder, lightning and possibly hail too. The showers elsewhere across England and Wales will also be heavy, possibly thundery with some hail at times. There is a threat of a tornado or funnel cloud almost anywhere across England and Wales. Lighter showers are expected to develop across Scotland, and very few across Northern Ireland and Ireland. Flash flooding may occur in torrential downpours, most likely in the THUNDERSTORM region but not exclusively so. Most showers should ease off in the late evening, although continuing for a time in eastern England and northern Scotland during the night.
