Storm Forecast Issued: 22:11 Saturday, 28th November 2009
Valid: 2009-11-29 00:00:00 - 2009-11-29 23:59:00
Regions Affected
Most of England and Wales (all of the UK is included in the WATCH)
Synopsis
An area of LOW pressure over southern England will dominate the weather across the United Kingdom on Sunday.
South and east of an occlusion, which will affect northern England and west Wales for much of the forecast period, numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop. Given the expected conditions, the development of a tornado is possible if a potent cell develops. Small to moderate sized hail is also possible.
A ridge develops over northern UK during the late afternoon and evening hours, causing any remaining showers and the occlusion to slowly decay. However, the interaction between the cold Arctic airmass and the occlusion presents a very low risk of a severe hail event, which we shall monitor during the day.
Ahead of the occlusion, further showers and thunderstorms will continue to affect southeastern England throughout the night.
