Regions Affected
SW/W Ireland (Ireland and W Northern Ireland are included in the WATCH)

Synopsis

As High pressure "Helmut" (FU Berlin) slowly moves northeastwards away from the United Kingdom towards Scandinavia, an occluded front approaches Ireland during the evening hours. A tropical airmass is advected northwards around the front, primarily because it is part of the remnants of ex Hurricane Danielle.

As a result, embedded convection is forecast along the front, provided sporadic thunder/lightning at times. Although the front is moving slowly east, pulses of rain will run S-N along the front itself. Should back-building of embedded cells occur, this is likely to provide renewed pulses of heavy rain over some locations, which may result in localised flooding.

The risk of thunder/lightning continues for the rest of the night across the southern portion of Ireland as the front continues to slowly move further east.
