Synopsis
The current situation across the UK is causing some concern. A deepening area of low pressure has brought some heavy rain to Wales and Northern England so far today, pushing slowly northwards. Some torrential downpours have been developing quite widely over central and western Ireland over the last few hours, and these will continue to work northeastwards during this afternoon and evening. An area of intensifying rain is likely to move eastwards into southwest England and Wales this evening, eventually into the Midlands. This may contain some rumbles of thunder but the greatest threat is flash flooding and possibly the development of a tornado. We will monitor this situation during the remainder of the day and may issue updates if necessary.
