Synopsis
A cold front working northeastwards over England and Wales during Saturday evening has brought some very torrential downpours and flash flooding in some places. A cluster of torrential showers will continue to work across the Midlands in a line from Bristol to the Wash, just south of Birmingham. These may have some thunder, lightning and possibly a weak tornado. These should clear the east coast around 03z. Further north persistent and heavy rain will affect much of Scotland and Northern Ireland, pushing slowly northwards, with the wrap around occlusion arriving back in northwest England after dawn. During daylight, a few rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out across northern England in particular, and perhaps a funnel cloud too. There will also be some unseasonably strong winds, reaching Gale force at times, across Northern Ireland, northern England, north Wales and southern Scotland which may cause disruption as trees are in full leaf. The rain and winds should ease during the evening and overnight, clearing northeastwards. Across the rest of England and Wales, after a few morning showers in the east, it should remain dry and sunny with few if any showers in the afternoon onwards. One thing to note if you're heading abroad or live in the Low Countries, as the current cold front works over these regions during Sunday, some severe thunderstorms are likely in the 'Severe' region on the map with the potential for large hail, strong wind gusts and possible tornadoes.
