Synopsis
A complicated setup to forecast for Saturday. An occlusion is expected to bring a band of rain, locally heavy, across parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland during the night. Across Wales and western England, this is a chance for a few rumbles of thunder. The occluded front pushes into Northern England and southern Scotland during the morning, with some heavy downpours in places and perhaps a few rumbles of thunder. This clears most of England and Wales, although lingering across Northern Ireland, before the wrap-around occlusion, associated with the LOW pressure system, moves back into SW England, Wales and SW Ireland. During the afternoon this could produce some heavy, slow moving showers, or a longer spell of heavy rain, with the threat of some thunder and strong gusty, and, at times, gale force winds. These showers are then expected to move into the Midlands during the evening and overnight. There is a threat of hail and a chance for the development of a tornado during the day.
